So my bamboo frame has arrived finally now to save for some shiny new parts for it mmmm, quiet xmas due to work and childcare but managed to do a very wet ride yesterday sheparding the Phillipino boys on a ride with Jay and have to say felt very strong climbing even though I have hardly ridden, it was a slowish pace to allow everyone to enjoy it! http://app.strava.com/activities/34813041

Thursday 20 December 2012

So the end of year is nigh....lots to look forward to next year, and hopefully some cheeky riding in the festive period once I've finished my night shifts, got a lovely mention on http://www.bamboobike.co/blog/    and can't wait for my bamboo frame. Have to admit have had to slack it on the gym tonight as feeling preety ropey with man flu and struggled to work today, so rest is on the menu. Must say a big thanks to my PT Sam at Farnborough for my last PT this year, we thought it would be nice to do measurements and there is a loss since June of over 10cm on the hips, 5cm on waist and 5kg not bad huh!!! Have the annual tunnelhilltrolls Xmas do on Sat and the  three nights so a quiet crimbo with the family is the plan but I wish you all a merry Xmas til next time!!!!

brass monkeys 2 Porridge pot

So as usual not the best prep especially as I can't cycle like a machine like some of the guys n gals at Brass Monkeys, had a heavy training week, then work night out with vodka on Fri. So woke up this morning with a cold, got to the venue wanting to turn around frankly as riding a bike wheezing is not a good look!! But the Brass Monkeys team pulled off a great course....
My usual stupid determination won through I rode 2 pretty solid laps and really felt confident descending the steep singletrack with Jays Mud X tyres, but really struggled climbing today, short and sharp isn't suited to my (ahem) svlete figure so a bit of walking was required, along with many others. Managed to pull out 3 laps of approx 7.5 miles with a smile but really struggled on lap 3 a combination of a cold and poor fuelling really.....
My THT mates did so well Rachy,Jo and Lou won their categories, Roki came second and Little Dean won even though I tried to maim him up a climb!! Thanks to everyone for their encouragement Dave for pit bitching, especially Jay for his babysitting and bike fettling and my work colleagues for the night off much appriciated as I'm wrecked!! Back to sensible mummy time tomorrow and 3 gym classes sleep is for wimps lol, til next time.....http://app.strava.com/activities/32717895

PT pain!!

So time today for combat with the lovely Jen at Farnborough then my PT torture....this year of PT has been amazing, my brill PT Sam has really pushed me further than ever before recently, did a 5 minute hill run at which I felt fairly comfortable with my HR at 165 on average, the legs are willing but I have to work on my confidence that my knees can keep me upright..
followed by a new chest rep set of 35kg yes thats right kg, I was shocked too at 10 x 10 reps with a 30 sec to 1 min rest OMG is all I can say, really shocked myself, then some core work at the end. Its fair to say I feel ok tonight but I think tomoro will be a wall of pain as due Spinning Combat and CXWorx ouch!! Heres a taster of my CX class!

A little intro.....

So I'm sitting here post night shift with little sleep deciding to follow in Dr Faffys lead of writing a blog to inspire me to keep fit and plan some biking adventures next year, as if I haven't got enough to do lol!!

For those of you who don't know me I do enjoy the odd mountain bike opportunity, juggling it with a 18 month year old, husband and working in a demanding job too, so little time so much to do. As you can guess from my blog address yes I do have a squeaky metal knee which would limit some people but I am determined to overcome the bone issues I have.

So this year so far has been fruitful I invested in a brilliant personal trainer at Franborough Rec who has really pushed me forward, I amcertainly the fittest I have ever been and have even began to run from nothing to 10 min non stop over the last 4 weeks which is quite an achievement for me (but shhhhh don't tell my surgeons!) I am excitingly also waiting for my new Bamboo frame ASAP, exciting times..... So next race is Sun at Brass Monkeys 4hours of pain!
